Astrology Is Storytelling

I’ve always loved stories. Hearing them, telling them, and reliving the ones that are so deeply ingrained in the human psyche that they have continued being shared for thousands of years. These stories are not just tales of fictional characters, but the repeated experiences of human archetypes that are very much alive within all of us. These archetypes found within mythology, whether it be Mayan, Egyptian, Greek, or Chinese, are representations of the different personalities that sometimes peacefully coexist within ourselves and among others, but also often find themselves at war.

Countless stories are written about the complexities of human interaction. What motivates us to either acts of love or those of violence? What inspires us to aspire to the highest and best, or contrariwise, sink apathetically into numb and uncurious? Our astrological blueprint is one of many, but in my personal preference l, the very best way to identify these built in tendencies, and begin altering them, if desired.

Each of the planets in our solar system embodies an archetype, a way of being, and has associated characteristics and traits. In astrology, we read the stories of the experiences these planets are having as they move through the various signs of the constellations in our galaxy and interact with one another along the way.

Of course the planets are not colliding into one another in their individual orbits, but they are occupying shared territory, passing by one another as they move, slowing down at times and all the while forming energetic relationships with one another based on the angles of spatial relationship.

Much like the planets have archetypes, each of these components also have meaning. The signs become the personality that the actor takes on, the house is the area of life that this production all takes place. A degree informs the level of maturity of the embodied archetype, and the aspects are the interactions between them all.

So when a second house Moon in Virgo is opposing an eighth house Venus in Pisces, the play is about a person criticizing their wealth, complaining about the increase of their insurance premiums while subsequently spending their partner’s inheritance on luxury perfumes. This is astrological storytelling, and this is how I read.

This is a silly and frivolous example of the many layers of meaning that can be interpreted through astrology, but is a powerful example of who well we can learn to read the situations in our lives, the people, and hopefully become a bit less judgmental of others once you know their backstory.
